My friend Dick Greco was one of the youngest mayors in the United States when he was first elected in 1967 (at 34 years old). A graduate of Hillsborough High School, Greco attended the University of Tampa where he obtained his B.S. in Education (1956). In 1974, Greco resigned as Mayor of Tampa to pursue other ventures with Eddie DeBartolo (former owner of 49ers of the NFL and now a Tampa resident).
In his first term as mayor, he handled hardcore issues like racial tensions, crime, and limited tax revenue. In 1995, he ran for Mayor again and was elected to the post by a landslide. He remained mayor until 2003 when, due to term limits he was no longer eligable. He completed his term and could not run again.
He was succeeded by Pam Iorio, who's bio is also available on this site, as she to is a friend (and client) of mine.
